The E-governance website
(http://mudkhednp.gov.in) created in Marathi by Intelligent Quotient System
Pvt. Ltd., Pune for Mudkhed Nagar Parishad (Mudkhed Municipal Council), Nanded District
(Maharashtra) has won the third prize in the Best Marathi Language Websites. The
competition was organized under the auspices of Government of Maharashtra jointly
by Rajya Marathi Vikas Sanstha, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC),
Mumbai and the Department of Information Technology, Government of Maharashtra.
Standing third among 105 strong contenders, the website strikes a blow for e-governance
at the local self-governing body level. Elaborates Deepesh Shah, Director of IQSPL,
“The website is a radical departure from the conventional website structure. We
took a bottom-up approach where the need of the citizen of Mudkhed was put in the
forefront. A totally citizen-friendly site, it contains all kinds of forms required
by the citizen, eliminating the need for a visit to the Nagar Parishad office. Important
officials, their responsibilities and their contact numbers are available at the
click of the mouse.”
It is this citizen-friendly orientation and the technologically advanced design
that possibly fetched laurels for IQSPL. Adds Deepesh Shah, “Our focus is e-governance.
We shall go all out to create more such websites and back them up with strong software
applications.”
